Shauri Yako community youth project

Shauri Yako is an impoverished community on the outskirts of Nyeri Town, Kenya. Children and youth living there often have no parental support, are out of school and unemployed. Girls are the most vulnerable and are left on the streets or slaving as domestic workers. They have no rights and are often subject to abuse. Rates of poverty, HIV and AIDS, orphans, and children living on the street are all rising.
